PANEL 1
Now we get a better look at everybody. In the foreground, ANGEL stands behind a barbershop chair, in which CUSTOMER 1 is seated. Angel is twenty-five year old Guatemalan, thick and fairly attractive, with overly styled hair coming down in thick, dark curls. She wears tight clothing, a little showy. Customer 1 is a young Mexican man with a mullet, more or less.

Behind them is DESIREE, a Puerto Rican woman in her mid-forties. She’s friendly and not unattractive, but tries to dress younger than she can pull off.

DESIREE
There she goes.

PANEL 2
A LITTLE OLD LADY, hunched with age, scurries out the doors. She has curlers in her hair. Against the far wall, we see the hair dryer seat she has abandoned, her jacket, purse, and a magazine still there. In the immediate foreground we see a close up of Angel’s scissors and a silhouette of Customer 1’s head.

ANGEL
Well she can forget about me doing those curlers up again. I told her to stay put or they never going to set.

ANGEL (CONT’D)
Can’t make somebody listen if they don’t want to.
